The Opportunity:

The College of Nursing, at the Dr. Phillips Nursing Pavilion on UCF's Academic Health Sciences Campus in Lake Nona, is hiring for an Event Manager II. This role supports and promotes the College to both internal and external audiences as part of the Marketing & Events team. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Event Manager II manages and oversees all College of Nursing events, ensuring they align with UCF and CON standards, regulations, and expectations. This position also maintains relationships with Nursing faculty, staff, donors, alumni, and partners providing excellent event experiences and customer service.

Responsibilities:

Event Management:


  • Manages special events for students, alumni, donors, and other constituents, including but not limited to Recognition/Pinning Ceremonies, White Coat Ceremony, departmental events, and other annual events.

  • Strategically plans and executes high-quality events and functions.

  • Creates event reports, timelines, task lists, scripts, and event communications.

  • Responsible for attendee solicitation, registration, and tracking. Produces, executes and oversees events on-site.

  • Manages building and event logistical aspects for College of Nursing events including site selection, facility contract negotiations, catering/food and beverage needs, development and review of event vendor contracts and processing, and other related responsibilities.

  • Submits and coordinates building and facilities requests for events and meetings taking place in the Dr. Phillips Nursing Pavilion.

  • Works closely with Academic Health Sciences Campus facilities, housekeeping, technology, events and logistics teams along with CON teams including leadership, finance, IT, advancement, alumni relations, and regional campuses.


Staff Management:


  • Direct supervision, training, and reporting responsibilities for CON events staff members including the Event Coordinator I and Events and Marketing Assistant (OPS) position.

  • Supervises, directs and manages on-site event and/or venue personnel, AV and catering staff, vendors and volunteers during event activities.


Administrative and Budget Management:


  • Develops, controls, and administers event budgets and oversees the preparation and management of budget reports. -Ensures accountability, accuracy and integrity of event records, including fiscal controls.

  • Manages ordering and production process for promotional items and maintains inventory catalog of items and events equipment.

  • Packages materials for outreach, gifting, and tabling.

  • Cross-trains with fellow marketing and events team members to ensure consistent support for the College.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 4+ years of previous experience in event planning and execution in higher education, non-profit, or commercial environments.

  • Project management skills, overseeing internal event staff and external vendors for events.

  • Experience in the hospitality industry and strong customer service skills.


The most successful candidates may possess the following qualities:


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with basic graphic design tools (Canva), and event registration software is a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and adaptability.

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced working environment and be part of exciting projects and events, working both independently and collaboratively.

  • The anticipated salary for a well-qualified candidate is between $56,030- $68,637. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

  • Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.

  • Applicant must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer, as sponsorship is not available for this position.

Parking with valid UCF parking pass is available in the lot and shuttle service is available from Main Campus to the College of Nursing.
