ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for promoting and contributing to a positive, cooperative working environment.
- Supervises the activities of the QC Technicians including the development and maintenance of product quality specifications and standards for both stock and custom products. Develops and implements product inspection, testing, and sampling procedures based on product type and vendor performance.
- Oversees and participates in the inspection and testing of incoming products and returned goods, ensuring proper handling, documentation, and disposition.
- Works closely with the Purchasing team to monitor and document vendor performance related to quality issues, defects, and compliance. Communicates with vendors regarding product defects and corrective actions and may assist in periodic vendor evaluations and audits.
- Provides training and technical assistance QC Technicians and to other departments, especially the Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service departments, regarding product specifications and testing methods. Monitors and evaluates QC Technician performance.
- Collaborating with the Purchasing Manager, identifies trends in quality data and recommends changes to improve product performance.
- Research, reviews, and suggests new QC testing technologies and techniques that will benefit the Company. Stays abreast of relevant industry changes and regulations that affect our products.
- Ensures product inspection equipment is effectively maintained and regularly calibrated.
- Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality, directs effort to provide customers with certifications, specifications, MSDS forms, and other regulatory information.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises the activities of the Quality Control Technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree in quality, Business, Supply Chain, or other technical degree, and minimum of three years related experience, to include supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in developing solutions to day-to-day problems/concerns when interacting with office and warehouse personnel, and outside contacts.
- Must be adept in or possess a general knowledge of the activities of workers supervised.
- Must be a self-starter with ability to prioritize and deal with varied duties.
- Technical and mechanical proficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, purchase orders, and vendor documentation.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
