DESCRIPTION
UC San Diego Health's Infusion pharmacy seeks a highly motivated and compassionate pharmacist to join our team. This position will focus on providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients receiving infusions, particularly chemotherapy, within the ambulatory infusion center inside the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion. The Pharmacy also provides pharmaceutical support for clinics and surgical areas in the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion. Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Medication Review and Verification: Review and verify medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Infusion treatment plans (Oncology and other disease states requiring infusion regimens). Perioperative medication order review. Chemotherapy Admixture and Dispensing: Oversee and participate in the preparation and dispensing of sterile compounded medications (including Chemotherapy), adhering to strict safety protocols and quality standards. Patient Counseling: Provide comprehensive patient counseling on medications to infusion center patients. Preceptorship: Serve as a preceptor to pharmacy residents and students, providing guidance and mentorship on clinical practice and patient care. Committee Participation: Actively participate as a Disease Team lead pharmacist, take part in Cancer Center, and Department of Pharmacy committees to promote medication safety and improve patient care. Medication Use Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of institution-wide medication use policies related to oncology and infusion care. Quality Improvement: Engage in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety and effectiveness of oncology and ambulatory infusion care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree; or equivalent clinical experience.
- Registered Pharmacist issued by the state of California (RPH).
- Pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical experience.
- Knowledge of pharmacy state and federal regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in the area of hematology/oncology.
- Proven knowledge of solid tumors, hematology and common treatments.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and counseling skills.
- Must be able to educate, monitor, order, and follow labs for patients on chemotherapy regimens.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PGY2 Oncology Residency.
- Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP).
- Prior experience in Inpatient Pharmacy or Ambulatory Infusion Center setting.
- Prior experience in Oncology Pharmacy setting.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Hours may include weekends and rotating holidays (up to every other), coverage for sick calls and vacation.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on business needs.
- Must be willing to rotate to all pharmacy areas/sites.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $188,609 - $212,350 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $90.33 - $101.70 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
