JOB ANNOUNCEMENT ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER (Bureau of Assets Management) Chicago Department of Fleet & Facility Management Number of Positions:1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: X33 $121,668 - $137,532 ANNUALLY Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm CDT on 10/30/2025 Job Overview Under direction, this class is managerial in nature and will assist in the implementation of a centralized oversight of City of Chicago real estate, including an establishment of a Space Allocation Committee to oversee the City's real estate portfolio which encompasses more than four hundred and twenty-six (426) buildings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Serves as main point of contact for property management of leased facilities. Maintains ongoing communication and stays informed of the status of all facilities within the City's leasing portfolio. Negotiates business terms for city occupancy and for third party occupancy in city facilities. Reviews past and present supporting documentation regarding the history of prior negotiations and researches the properties' fair market value. Responsible for oversight of build-out within leased space (with other 2FM Bureaus). Documents, reviews and approves all work required under the negotiated lease and assigns responsibilities to the appropriate parties. Assist (with other 2FM Bureaus) departments in the relocation of operations. Collaborates with representatives from affected City departments and coordinates the execution of services necessary to facilitate relocations. Presents real estate leasing matters to City Council when approval is required. Maintains all essential information to respond to inquiries from City Alderpersons during Council hearings related to the approval of leases presentations. Attends scheduled meetings with Department senior executive managers and/or serve as the Department's liaison in mandated meetings. Maintains up-to-date information on all cases for City of Chicago facilities and on all leases the City has entered into with third-party parties. Oversees the City's vending machine contract; Performs other related duties as required. Additional duties may be required for this position Location: North LaSalle Street, Suite 200 Hours: M-F 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. (Must be flexible to early and/or late meetings) THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM CAREER SERVICE Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Nine (9) years of experience related to the responsibilities of the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including seven (7) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including five (5) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in a field related to the duties performed, including four (4) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position.
