ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER 1 - REGIONAL OPS - GRAND EAST Department of Children's Services Regional Operations Knoxville, TN Salary: $13,344.00 - $17,778.00 per month Closing Date: 10/30/2025

Job Overview:

Responsible for directing operations and ensuring alignment to strategic goals of the Department for two regions within the DCS six region model. Performs work of unusual difficulty and supervisory work of considerable difficulty; performs related work as required. Oversees two Executive Directors charged with supervising the regional case management teams. The Assistant Commissioner of Field Operations will devise and lead strategic plans in collaboration with the Deputy Commissioner of Regional Operations and will ensure all guidelines and operations are adhered to and implemented consistently by regional leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Supports the Deputy Commissioner of Regional Operations in developing the long-term goals Oversees two regions, each led by a direct report Directs, reviews, and participates in the study of regional operations, functions, and activities Helping ensure the consistent application of case management policies and practices across all regions Collaborates with Quality Compliance team members to enhance the delivery of services and support innovation of regional case management teams Develops, submits, and administers the department budget Evaluates staff and makes recommendations on personnel actions Partner with Juvenile Justice and Statewide Services service units to help ensure regional case management teams are receiving support from their departmental counterparts

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college 8-10 years in an executive, managerial, or supervisory capacity in an organization supporting children and families
