Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others.

EH&S SPECIALIST 1

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • EHS Specialist 1 will works to develop, implement and maintain Health, Safety and Environmental programs/procedures.
  • Performs audits and safety inspections of work environments, processes and operations in compliance with government regulations and industry standards.
  • Ensures all applicable registrations, permits and licenses are in place and current; disposes of hazardous materials per regulations.
  • Leads the safety committees, analyzes hazardous situations and identifies alternative courses of action, while empowering members to achieve departmental safety goals and objectives.
  • Participates in developing and implementing training programs for employees.
  • Gathers data for the purpose of identifying, reducing, or eliminating sources of pollutants and/or hazards that affect the work environment and health of the employees.

Other responsibilities as assigned:

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health or equivalent
  • Years of Experience: 1-2 years relevant experience

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge of industry Health, Safety and Environment regulations/standards
  • Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets and hazardous waste disposal procedures
  • Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations
  • Ability to solve complex problems and make decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $69,500 to $115,000 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
