Job Description

The Director of Compensation is responsible for the development, execution and day to day management of all compensation programs ensuring we are attracting and retaining top talent, market competitiveness and internal equity.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong level of business acumen to enable relevant compensation programming to motivate and engage employees and contribute to business goals.
  • Oversee the implementation and manage the company's compensation framework, including the job leveling structure tied to the compensation framework.
  • Lead and mentor a team of compensation professionals, providing guidance and support for their development. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Execute various compensation program re-design projects as dictated by business needs to include high-level project management, partnering with internal and external resources, and ensuring that projects are on-time and on-budget, while achieving desired goals and objectives.
  • Manage and administer all company compensation programs including executing market surveys, analysis and reporting to support overall compensation philosophy.
  • Partner with HRBPs and Talent Acquisition to ensure effective implementation, adoption and application of the Company's compensation philosophy, pay grades, position leveling, promotion guidelines, career ladders, and leveling criteria.
  • Oversee annual compensation cycles including merit reviews, bonus planning, and equity grants.
  • Assist with the development of roadmap for achieving reward strategies to support the Company's strategic business goals.
  • Provide analytical support for the design and administration of firmwide incentive and executive compensation programs.
  • Design and administer job descriptions/job codes to ensure consistency, compliance and regulations are met.
  • Continually assess market conditions and pay practices to ensure competitiveness of compensation plans and programs.
  • Review and oversee ongoing benchmarking requests and alignment to our compensation framework.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable wage and hour laws and compensation related requirements including FLSA evaluations and determinations.
  • Lead the global mobility program.
  • Develop and manage all communications as they relate to compensation/Total Rewards programs.
  • Proactively liaise with partners in Finance, Legal, Marketing & Communications and other functions as needed.
  • Provide support for various strategic and special projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Advanced degree in HR, Organizational Development or Education, a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in financial services. Specialty insurance, a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience managing people.
  • Previous experience implementing compensation programs; designing and developing incentive plans, designing alternative reward systems; job evaluation; market pricing and executive compensation.
  • Previous experience managing a global mobility program, including relation and immigration matters.
  • Strong knowledge of legal requirements impacting compensation administration.
  • Project management of multiple and complex HR projects.
  • Results focused; a consultative leadership style that builds high-performing teams across multi-disciplined projects that consistently meet targets and realize organizational benefits.
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels throughout an organization.
  • Able to maintain an extremely high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and objectivity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and influencing skills and ability to facilitate across all levels of business.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Occasional travel required.

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

  • Chicago - $134.8k - $161.7k
  • New York City - $148.1k - $177.7k
