Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Play an integral role in bringing world-class industrial projects to life. As a Commissioning & Start-up Operator, you will be part of a highly skilled team dedicated to safely and efficiently transitioning complex facilities from construction to operation. You'll work in an environment that values collaboration, safety, and technical excellence-where every action contributes to delivering a reliable, high-performing plant for our clients and end users.

Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible for ensuring a seamless and safe facility testing, commissioning, and start-up process. Reporting to the Commissioning Manager or Commissioning Lead, you will work closely with field construction teams, operations, and other stakeholders to prepare systems for operation, issue Safe Work Permits, and ensure that all work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards. Your focus will be on readiness, compliance, and operational excellence that sets the stage for long-term success.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist with system and sub-system scoping, ensuring all commissioning boundaries and interfaces are clearly defined.
  • Support the development and review of commissioning procedures, acceptance tests, and handover documentation.
  • Participate in turnover completions, package walkdowns, and punch list management.
  • Support the execution of Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and specialty cleaning activities.
  • Apply Commissioning and Start-up (CSU) risk management strategies, identifying and mitigating system-specific risks.
  • Verify implementation of prerequisite safety controls for all high-risk activities, including hot work, confined space entry, lifting and hoisting, and electrical isolation.
  • Prepare and issue daily or weekly Safe Work Permits, ensuring all safety controls are clearly communicated and understood.
  • Conduct thorough pre-job discussions at the work site, review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and confirm mitigation measures are in place.
  • Monitor permitted jobs throughout the day to ensure work is being performed safely and in compliance with established procedures.
  • Collaborate with construction and operations teams to address issues and maintain a safe, efficient work environment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of permit activities, inspections, and work progress.
  • Ensure consistent application of operating discipline, work processes, and quality standards to meet client requirements.
  • Engage directly with clients and team members to resolve issues and drive successful project outcomes.
  • Respond proactively to unsafe conditions or hazards, promoting a culture of accountability and safety awareness.

  • Demonstrated understanding of OSHA Regulations, National Electric Code, Uniform Building Code, Universal Plumbing Code, American Petroleum Institute standards, and other governing codes.
  • High preference for experience with GE LM6000 operation or equivalent power generation systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) and SLDs (Single Line Diagrams).
  • Proven ability to develop safe work envelopes and create isolation packages.
  • Hands-on experience using structured procedures and workflows to execute projects safely and efficiently.
  • Strong situational awareness, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Previous Turnaround or Commissioning experience is an asset.
