Purpose
The Project Manager leads electrical construction projects from inception through completion, serving as the primary liaison between clients, field operations, and internal stakeholders. This role ensures projects meet schedule, budget, safety matrix, and quality commitments while building lasting client relationships that drive business growth. Through strategic oversight of resources, finances, and personnel, the Project Manager maximizes project profitability and team performance while upholding company standards and fostering continuous improvement.

Focus & Scope
Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:
  1. Establishes, communicates, monitors, and evaluates electrical construction specialty goals and strategic plans.
  2. Acts as lead liaison between clients, estimators, superintendents, and other stakeholders to facilitate construction activities and maintain exceptional customer service.
  3. Builds and maintains positive working relationships with customers, public agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and other business units, resulting in increased business, repeat customers, and industry referrals.
  4. Identifies and pursues potential business opportunities and new client prospects.
  5. Represents the company in project meetings and attends pre-job meetings with prospective clients.
  6. Plans, schedules, coordinates, and oversees construction projects through Superintendents, Foremen, Project Engineers, and Project Coordinators.
  7. Ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards and customer expectations.
  8. Establishes project objectives, policies, and procedures within contract guidelines.
  9. Attends project handoff meetings and communicates effectively with the estimating team to clarify bid interpretation and problem-solve project requirements.
  10. Investigates potentially serious situations and implements corrective measures.
  11. Manages financial aspects of contracts and subcontracts, including fee payments, rental equipment, and income/expenses to protect company interests while maintaining positive client relationships.
  12. Reviews invoices, extra work billings, and resolves cost-related issues.
  13. Manages project resources (personnel and equipment) to ensure budget compliance and collaborates with field operations on change order management.
  14. Coordinates job setup by preparing breakdowns, subcontracts, purchase orders, and other required documents.
  15. Reviews plans and field changes; prepares change orders as required.
  16. Completes internal administrative responsibilities and documentation, including logs, files, records, and reports.
  17. Contributes to written and current project management guidelines, manuals, policies, and procedures.
  18. Prepares documentation and correspondence to clients regarding contracts, project issues, and status updates.

Role Qualifications & Requirements

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, or related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
Experience and Industry Expertise:
  • 3-5 years of related experience in the field of underground, utility, gas or electrical construction work.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supervising others.
  • Previous experience working on PG&E projects preferred.
Specific Job Requirements:
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Current on all company required safety and regulatory training
  • Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and successfully avoid conflicts-of-interest.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end strategic sourcing process
  • Ability to interpret estimates/bids
  • Thorough understanding of common industry practices, processes, standards, equipment, technology, cost control, schedules, etc. and their impact on project activities
  • Thorough knowledge of Company and corporate standard operating procedures and policies
  • Strong ability using rigorous logic and sound reasoning to solve problems
  • Thorough knowledge of construction law/contracts
  • Driven to meeting financial milestones
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making

Equipment Used, Physical Demands, and Work Environment

Equipment Used:
  • Lap top computer, telephone, automobile, personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, hardhat, hearing protection) when visiting project sites, and general office equipment.
Physical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Physical: Sitting for long periods of time working at the computer or driving to job sites. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling in confined or enclosed spaces. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May work long hours during peak seasons.
  • Work Environment: Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various shifts or hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings. Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise.

BASE SALARY RANGE:
$113,333.00 - $158,667.00
The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonable expects to pay for the position. The actual base salary is subject to variation due to the role, level, geographic location, relevant education, training, or experience, among other factors.
