Summary

The Valve Maintenance Specialist (VMS) inspects, repairs, tests, and performs preventative maintenance on industrial valves and relief devices. Works under the direction of the Team Manager or supervising staff and must be able to complete valve maintenance tasks independently while following quality and safety standards.

• Repair, disassemble, clean, paint, reassemble and test safety relief valves, conservation vents, manual and actuated valves of various types and sizes.
• Use media blasters, solvent baths, lapping machines, precision measuring devices, power/hand tools and testing equipment.
• Inspect parts/components to determine repairability or need for replacement; document findings per Quality Control and ASME National Board standards.
• Maintain shop equipment (media blasters, dust collectors, lapping machines, test rigs) and inventory of stocked materials; manage storeroom returns for unused items.
• Communicate progress and issues to Team Manager/Scheduler; follow assigned priorities and schedules.
• Work with coworkers and safety representatives to ensure OSHA and other safety compliance; maintain good housekeeping in shop areas.
• Interact professionally with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Perform Field Conservation Vent inspections working alongside area Maintenance.

• Handson experience repairing industrial valves and relief devices; strong mechanical aptitude.
• Proficiency with shop tools and testing equipment; knowledge of Quality Control and ASME National Board standards.
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadlinedriven environment with attention to detail.
• Willingness to work varied schedules and overtime as needed.
• Able to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Experience with Valve Shop Repair applications, SAP, GE APM or similar systems.
• Prior valve shop or industrial maintenance experience; technical training or certifications in valve repair or machining.

• Shop environment with noise, dust and chemicals; frequent standing, lifting and manual handling.
• Use of PPE required; may require mechanical aids or team lifts for heavy items.

Required:

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred:

• WorkKeys assessmentpreferredat time of hire.

Future Requirements:

• Work Keys score of 6 - 4 - 4 is required to begin the Field Mechanic Apprenticeship.
