SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The BioCryst Internship Program is more than just an internship, it's a launchpad for your future career. We believe the best learning happens through hands-on experience, meaningful connections, and ownership of your summer projects. During your 12-week internship, you'll dive into biotech projects firsthand and see the impact your work has on patient lives.

Program Highlights

  • Hybrid Flexibility: Balance remote work with at least three days per week in our Durham/RTP office, at the Frontier RTP campus, providing access to resources, mentorship, and the full internship experience. Note: this is not a fully remote internship.

JOB SUMMARY

This is an exciting opportunity to obtain hands-on experience in a fast-growing biotech company. As a Biometrics Application Intern, you will support a wide variety of initiatives in Biometrics. This is a unique chance for you to gain Biometrics experience while gaining valuable healthcare and biotechnology industry experience.

The ideal candidate will be ready to roll up their sleeves and bring their passion for operational execution and clinical science into a fast-paced, innovative learning environment. This individual should bring energy every day and be eager to work collaboratively as we make hope a reality for patients with rare and orphan diseases.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Clinical Development Science: Contribute to and participate in Biometric application discussions. Work with Biometrics to support SAS and R programming activities, and biometric application initiatives.
  • Participating in drug development day to day: Shadow the Director of Biometrics, and engage with other biometrics members while learning the ins and outs of drug development.
  • Providing support for SAS Life Science Analytic Framework (LSAF) users and triaging issues to the Biometrics Application leadership as needed.
  • Collaborate with a variety of professionals and intern peers across functions
  • Support statistical programming for analysis reporting as assigned; assisting in the development of SAS macros and R scripts.


EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS



  • Education fields: Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields. At least a junior or senior with relevant work or coursework towards a bachelor's degree (min. 3.0 GPA)
  • Junior to intermediate programming proficiency (i.e., prior use of both SAS and R preferred)
  • Experience in developing and testing software applications is preferred
  • Interested in the Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology Industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft apps: Excel, MS Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communicator; able to clearly discuss complex tasks and findings
  • Can adjust quickly as priorities change.
  • Team player who is willing to flex outside the prescribed role.
  • Must be in proximity to the Durham/RTP office - on-site presence may be required for meetings and intern program activities.



INTERNSHIP DETAILS



  • Duration: 12 weeks, full-time
  • Program Dates: May 18, 2026 - August 7, 2026 *start and end dates are not flexible
  • Expected weekly hours: 32-35
  • Location: Hybrid, with at least three days per week in Durham/RTP office, at the Frontier RTP This internship is not fully remote, and housing is not provided.
  • Compensation: Paid internship; wages are competitive and based on experience and academic level
