Job Description

Works under the direction of the Corporate Director to mitigate potential risk to patients or to Truman Medical Centers. Maintains an understanding of patient safety practices and serves as an internal consultant in mitigating accreditation/certification risks, Responsible for the Patient Safety Program and supports the Risk Management Plan. Identifies improvement opportunities and participates in Patient Safety performance improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing, or equivalent licensure or above and in an approved allied healthcare field

  • Three to five years health care experience

  • Risk Management Certification/Patient Safety Certification or obtain within 30 months of hire

  • Working knowledge of principles and theories of health care delivery

  • Critical thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to problem solve and lead by influence

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to demonstrate effective working relationships with patients, patient's families, medical staff, supervisors, other hospital employees and the general public

  • Ability to analyze information and formulate effective plans for using information

  • Computer literate

  • Intermediate user of Word and keyboard

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Prepared

  • Current risk management and/or patient safety experience

  • Knowledge of accrediting (TJC), regulatory and licensing agency standards and processes

  • Experience in data-driven decision support, and improvement process

  • Registered Nurse or other clinical license

  • Management or supervisory experience

  • Proficient in the use of Excel and Power Point

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
