Daikin Applied is seeking a talented and eager Environmental Health and Safety Manager. This role plans, guides, and implements organization safety program to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment by performing the following duties:. Location: In office, Faribault, MN

What you will do:

  • Cultivate a safety-focused culture that prioritizes the well-being of individuals, ensuring they feel valued, heard, and integral to our operations.

  • Policies and Procedures: Collaborate with site management to formulate and oversee site-specific environmental, health, and safety policies, exceeding legal requirements and aligning with corporate policies.

  • Incident Investigation: Support supervision in coordinating and conducting thorough incident investigations, ensuring swift corrective actions to minimize future incidents and establish a legal record. Personally investigate all Daikin Level 4 and above incidents.

  • Industrial Hygiene Program: Aid management in developing an industrial hygiene program to monitor and manage personal and general work area exposures. This encompasses areas such as noise, heat stress, ergonomics, chemical exposure, and radiation.

  • Inspection and Control: Continuously assess the site's exposure to injury and loss risks. Inform and assist site management in implementing preventive measures and controls.

  • New Equipment Review: Collaborate with requesters to review new equipment and specifications, ensuring identification of safety and health hazards and the implementation of necessary precautions before operation.

  • PPE Evaluation: Assist Supervision in evaluating the necessity and appropriate selection of personal protective equipment, implementing a comprehensive training program for its proper use.

  • Training: Oversee the development of effective EH&S training programs and support supervisors in delivering required training to employees.

  • Safety Committees: Assist in establishing and coordinating site safety committees, serving as a resource for these committees.

  • Management of Contractors: Qualify, select, and manage external EH&S consultants/resources in strict accordance with defined scopes of work to supplement internal resources.

  • Knowledge of Regulations: Stay informed about local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety laws by attending seminars, classes, and annual training.

  • Development of Metrics: Develop and implement a program/system to track required metrics for reporting, monitoring performance, and fostering continuous improvement.

  • Corporate EH&S Liaison: Collaborate with corporate teams to implement and track EHS initiatives, including corporate metrics, programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Governmental Liaison: Act as the primary contact for local government agencies regarding EH&S concerns, managing aspects such as permitting, tracking, inspections, and reporting.

  • Other Tasks: Execute assigned tasks associated with environmental, health, and safety activities.

  • EHS Management Systems: Possess working knowledge, experience, and competence in managing and maintaining EHS Management Systems, including ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, and other third-party certificates where applicable.

  • Address IDLH: Take immediate action to address IDLH situations by implementing immediate fixes, such as removing equipment from service, stopping production, and initiating work stoppage.

  • Extensive Knowledge: Demonstrate extensive knowledge of OSHA, state OSHA, DOL, DOH, EPA, and local regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental, Safety or Industrial Hygiene required.

  • 5 years related experience required.
