Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) team is responsible for improving overall availability and efficiency for Microsoft's cloud business. We have multiple teams focused on both Microsoft and Lessor datacenter performance and all aspects of datacenter utilization effectiveness that includes power, water and labor. We are seeking a Director - Demand Planning to support the Operational Supply Chain across datacenters globally. This role will own developing the strategy that will scale with the business and enable a demand forecast for parts, vendor capacity, and inputs into DC ops capacity planning. This role will lead the business requirements to determine internal or external tools needed to build a capacity planning model that can scale to support thousands of SKUs, globally for critical environment spares and Microsoft AI delivery for DC operations. ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:Oversees and directs the plan or forecast across the company for demand planning; evangelizes the demand plan with other leaders. Drives clarity and understanding of what is required to achieve plan and assesses plans to mitigate potential risks and issues.Drives data analysis and leads team in identifying trends, patterns, correlations, and insights to develop new forecasting models and improving existing models. Oversees development of short and long term (e.g., weekly, monthly, quarterly) demand forecasts and develops and publishes key forecast accuracy metrics; analyzes data to identify potential sources of forecasting error. Availability: Ensures demand planning processes are implemented to scale and supports preventing part shortage related defects to capacity. Ensuring inventory is at the right place at the right time for the right cost - finding the balance between business and customers' needs to ensure seamless customer experiences. Developes the strategy for enabling demand forecast to be shared with vendors and to be used to influence and support labor capacity and vendor capacity management, supporting on time delivery of equipment for CE spares while maintaining balance inventory to maintain low costs. Builds strong working relationships across multiple disciplines (Sourcing, Finance, Data Center Operations, Suppliers and others), cultivating strategic relationships and influence across the organization. |
