OverviewMicrosoft Advertising (MSA) is at the forefront of the digital advertising industry and empowers advertisers around the world to reach and expand their potential through our full-funnel digital marketing solutions.Central to our success is our how Microsoft Advertising activates against our strategic priorities and takes decisions that directly influence how our sales and marketing organizes and mobilizes to unlock growth.We are looking for a seasoned Senior Director of Business Strategy with digital advertising experience to translate Microsoft's product and publisher strategy into actionable recommendations for MSA's sales and marketing teams, leveraging both business domain expertise and custom analytics to help frame and plot our path forward. This role involves strategic planning, collaboration, and staying ahead in the dynamic digital advertising landscape. By focusing on building solid partnerships, understanding the advertising market and how our publisher partners can deliver customer value in a scalable way. You will contribute to Microsoft's success in the ever-evolving industry.This role will lead a small team of Senior Analysts and Partner Sales Executives working closely with MSA's product and publisher strategy teams and in lock step with MSA Global Sales Strategy to directly inform MSA's path to activate. Your team will work cross-functionally and on a project basis to produce data-driven, balanced recommendations to inform MSA's investments and sales model, and drive alignment across org and geo-boundaries on the optimum the course of action. You will have solid knowledge of the ad tech, media, and online advertising space, in particular, display, video and social, and be accustomed to creating clarity from ambiguity and building robust, quantified scenarios for consideration. You will build deep, trusted relationships, operate as a thought- and business partner to significantly accelerate growth potential via partnership, product and monetization opportunities. This role will navigate both the unique requirements and goals of MSA's key partners in Microsoft AI (MAI) and deeply understand what is required to land the monetization solutions that Microsoft Advertising takes to market. ResponsibilitiesLead the development of key business recommendations: Leads team to conduct business research and deliver actionable recommendations around high-impact strategic questions for Microsoft's advertising businesses. Synthesizes broad findings into business insights with clarity, proactively driving solutions to high-impact and complex strategic questions and unaddressed opportunities. Guides team in conducting analyses to synthesize recommendations, providing clear guidance and feedback on framing. In collaboration with key partners drives consensus and advocacy of insights to senior business leaders, leveraging executive presence to influence decisions and conveying viewpoints through written documents and influencing models through feedback and vetting.Business principle development: Develops data-driven frameworks, principles and business rules to inform MSA's business and sales execution to ensure alignment to specific strategic business goals.Leads activation against Microsoft Owned and Operated publisher strategy: Leads team to ensure that MSA understands the full detail of publisher strategy (MSN, Outlook, Xbox, MCG, ABK) and can respond with effective demand solutions. Develops annual and quarterly plans to align publisher goals and initiatives with annual revenue targets and the objectives of our advertising business, ensure these are being delivered against. Advises on publisher yield strategy bringing the best of MSA to bear in how they plan and deliver media products. Identifies and manages project to drive publisher success through joint initiatives, goals, deliverables and blocker removal.People Management: Delivers success for the business strategy team through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring, living Microsoft and MAI culture, embodying our values and leadership principles. Clearly defines team objectives and outcomes and enable success across boundaries, helping the team adapt and learn.
