Job Summary:

Assists the Department Chair and program coordinators with advising for prospective and current students with the Community/Public Health, Physical Education, Educational Foundations, Community and Teacher Leaders, Urban Community Studies, and Educational Doctorate program requirements for declaration, progression, and completion for undergraduate and graduate programs, along with Physical Education TLP and Focus programs for Health and Physical Education. Provides class authorization support for HSPE, EDFN/MACTL, UCS, and EdD undergraduate and graduate courses. Maintains and updates student records in the electronic database multiple times throughout the semester. Attends all events targeted toward enrollment and retention of undergraduate and graduate prospective and current students.

Job Description:

  • Interacts in a positive manner with undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds to provide information about HSPE, EDFN, UCS, and EdD programs and related career choices. Advises students of relevant procedures, deadlines, and resources. Advises students regarding course selection before and during registration periods.

  • Meets with students to answer questions and advise for Health, Physical Education, Educational Foundations, Urban Community Studies, and the Educational Doctrine classes. Works with students to complete Major and Minor Declaration forms. Also provides and assists students with forms describing licensure and field placement requirements.

  • Advises prospective students and pre-majors regarding transfer credit and course planning prior to admission to a specific program. Evaluates transcripts for transfer of credits, address questions or approvals to Enrollment Services. Establishes an electronic file for each student, updates files as needed, and maintains them for three years after students' graduation. Maintains electronic supply of program materials to meet students' needs. Maintains adequate regular office hours, evening and weekend hours as required.

  • Processes course record forms and other forms related to student graduation applications for HSPE, EDFN, and UCS.

  • Maintains contact with HSPE, EDFN, UCS, EdD Department Chair and Program Coordinators for current information regarding individual programs. Stays informed of state, university requirements. Provides information about students and students' progress as requested by the Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chairs, Program Coordinators, and CESP Office. Represents HSPE, EDFN, UCS, and EdD at events for potential undergraduate and graduate students such as orientations and open houses.

  • Works with other colleges, University programs, and offices across campus (financial aid, career services, health services, etc).

  • Develops/maintains electronic data base for undergraduate and graduate students which includes demographic and program status. Updates and verifies the electronic data base multiple times throughout the semester which includes: curriculum sheets, student information, enrollment status, etc. Participates in enrollment management by collaborating with Department Chairs as required. Assists students and faculty with course enrollment. Completes course authorizations for enrollment in designated/approved courses for Health, Physical Education, EDFN, BLBC, and UCS.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications:

A master's degree in any field and a minimum of two years of professional experience in a university or higher education setting are required.

Transcripts:

Copies of unofficial transcripts are accepted; however, official transcripts for all earned degrees will be required of candidates selected for final interviews.

This position requires a background check.

Salary Range

55,000-65,000
