Position Summary The Department of Radiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking an energetic, creative, and highly organized professional to join our team as the Manager of Academic Advancement and Employee Engagement. This role is key to shaping a positive, inclusive, and dynamic workplace culture for the department's faculty and staff. The Manager of Academic Advancement and Employee Engagement will support professional development and academic advancement for a large faculty of physicians and scientists and will lead initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction and engagement across the department. As a strategic partner, the Manager will collaborate with leadership, faculty, and administrative teams to align people-focused programs with departmental goals and values. Reporting to the Department Administrator, the Manager will serve as a bridge between administration, human resources, and faculty affairs at a large academic medical center. The Department of Radiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center has more than 125 full time faculty members and a large staff of administrators, technologists, and clinical staff. More than 800,000 imaging exams are performed each year in state-of-the-art facilities across Manhattan and Westchester. Responsibilities Recruitment, Onboarding, and Orientation
- Participate in faculty recruitment, including scheduling of faculty visits, preparing informational materials for prospective candidates, and tracking of recruitment plans.
- Manage applicants throughout the recruitment process, ensuring the selection of high-quality candidates.
- Organize and oversee faculty and staff onboarding events, ensuring that all new hires are operational from day one and seamlessly integrated during their first 90 days.
- Conduct site-specific faculty and staff orientations for offsite practices.
Compliance
- Track faculty time and ensure compliance with Departmental and Institutional policies and procedures.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with annual training compliance requirements such as HIPAA, Institutional Conflicts of Interest, OSHA, AHT, Flu Vaccination, etc.
- Manage, monitor and ensure compliance with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital credentialing requirements, such as maintenance of licensure, DEA, board certification, Infection Control, etc.
- Track and follow up on outstanding compliance issues with faculty and research staff.
- Provide ongoing updates to leadership regarding compliance status and deadlines.
Faculty and Staff Development
- Organize and staff meetings of the Committee on Academic Promotions, including meeting management, minute-taking, and guiding committee members.
- Solicit and compile promotion documentation for dossier submissions to the Office of Faculty Affairs.
- Manage the tenure promotion process, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines and maintaining timelines.
- Assist Department Chair with the implementation, tracking and completion of faculty evaluations.
- Ensure that all staff performance appraisals are completed annually.
- Maintain up-to-date employee rosters, including slot analysis, demographics, and contributions to the annual Chairs Report.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Support department well-being initiatives, coordinating initiatives focused on employee well-being and social engagement.
- Develop and execute employee appreciation events.
- Manage the selection and distribution of department-branded items that inspire pride and strengthen the team's collective identity.
- Establish and facilitate onboarding check-ins and follow-ups to ensure smooth integration into the department, provide support, and address employee concerns.
- Develop resources, tools, and information to help new hires navigate their roles and workplace effectively.
- Implement training programs aimed at staff development.
Miscellaneous
- Partner with leadership to help organize and support community outreach and global health initiatives.
- Update and maintain the department intranet for accurate, real-time information sharing and accessibility.
- Create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leaders, to ensure buy-in and support for employee engagement initiatives.
- Conduct regular assessments and analysis to measure the effectiveness and impact of employee engagement programs.
- Provide support and resources to managers and team leaders to help them engage and motivate their teams.
- Support Human Resources by assisting with faculty and staff inquiries on staffing, payroll, benefits, HR policies, and employment regulations. (as needed)

Requires a competent and organized individual that is self-motivated, reliable, conscientious, and able to solve analytical problems, as well as plan independently. Must be highly collaborative and able to work with all levels of staff. Position requires establishing and maintaining relationships within and across departments. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word. Ability to meet deadlines and maintain required confidentiality. Knowledge of government and foundation grant administration and PeopleSoft financials required.
