The General Foreman is responsible for organizing, directing, supervising and coordinating construction activities at a job site. Responsibilities including but not limited to: * Work procedures, scheduling, cost control * Project specification conformity * Establishment of manpower levels * Monitoring and implementation of safety programs * Project conformance to national, local and/or company building codes and the maintenance of accurate records with help of Superintendent * Develop a project plan for sequence of construction, equipment, materials, manpower and site layout * Develop a daily plan for the next day's activities, communicate daily plan to the crew in the daily job briefing * Coordinate two to three week look ahead schedule with Superintendent; coordinate need for additional manpower or equipment on the site * Coordinate/confirm all necessary items are on the site or scheduled for delivery * Help Plan and control labor costs to complete project within budgeted amount * Preview job site daily to assess degree of readiness * Responsible for the satisfactory conduct of all construction operations and task accomplishment in an economical, efficient and timely manner on a project * Monitor craft performance relative to budget, schedules and deadlines * Implement and enforce work rules. * Help Requisitions, tools, materials and equipment in accordance with established procedures and necessary lead times * Prepare and review plans, specifications, drawings, and schedules to determine work phases and work priorities with the help of Superintendent * Determine and recommend solutions to construction and architectural discrepancies with Superintendent * Monitor manpower utilization, effectiveness and productivity * Facilitate the efficient use of personnel and equipment * Coordinate movement and use of equipment and supplies with procurement. * Inspect fieldwork to evaluate construction progress, efficiency of operation and cost control. * Responsible for overall project workmanship and goal attainment (Superintendent) * Attend owners meetings * Schedule and monitor subcontractors * Understand PUCR reports * Be highly involved with on the job training * Ensure that a comprehensive inventory list is maintained and updated of all assigned resources and be responsible for their condition and security * Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values * And other duties as assigned Qualifications: * At least 10 years of prior experience for a recognized Heavy/Highway contractor * At least 7 years of prior experience supervising construction crews of all trades including carpenters, operators, drivers, etc. * Must be able to meet deadlines while having the ability to maintain an extremely safe work environment * Must have strong verbal and some written communication skills * Familiar with DOT standards Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Advanced mastery of his/her craft. * Must have a very good working knowledge of all crafts. * Must have excellent math computation skills Lane Construction offers a comprehensive benefits package with an excellent opportunity to grow and be part of one of the most respected names in the construction industry.
