Responsibilities

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 150 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.

The Information Technology Specialist is the point person for all information technology, computer and network systems, and telephone support service issues for the PIW facility. The IT Specialist will oversee privacy, control of passwords, and control security for the servers. Further, the IT Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the hospital security surveillance cameras. Will work closely with the Director of Technology.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides day-to-day technical support for hospital personnel with computers, printers, video surveillance, copy machines, equipment, and telephone system.

2. Serve as the facility liaison with Corporate IT.

3. Install and troubleshoot PC equipment.

4. Function as help desk for facility.

5. Apply systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software, or system functional specific specifications.

6. Design, document, test, create, or modify computer programs related to machine operating systems.

7. Develop and/or implement efficient and cost-effective software solutions for a particular program.

8. Prepare manuals and user guides for use and training purposes as needed.

9. Troubleshoot day-to-day problems with software and hardware and make any necessary repairs in a timely manner.

10. Make recommendations regarding need for new software and hardware systems to management.

11. Work with UHS-BH Corp IT with research, bids, and purchase orders.

12. Continuously work toward improving the performance of the systems.

13. Resolve users' software related issues within scope of assigned security protocol as authorized by BH-CORP-IT.

14. Installs and supports all network related hardware and software including LAN/WAN and firewalls and maintains several servers and backup systems.

15. Load appropriate software packages such as operating systems and network systems.

16. Administer email and anti-virus systems.

17. Maintains hospital telephone system.

18. Maintain software/hardware inventories.

19. Document all PC systems and software.

20. Provide technical support for maintenance of employee ID badging systems and related software components.

21. Works closely with the managers, corporate IT staff, and hospital leadership in strategically planning future growth, budgeting for IT and security requirements, and achieving organizational goals.

22. Document all PC systems and software.

23. Supports HIPAA security policies.

24. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred.

Experience: One (1) year IT experience or equivalent experience preferred. Prefer candidates with experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of HIPAA security requirements.

Additional Requirements: Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis, and of computer hardware/software systems.
