Overview

Alliance Cancer Specialists is seeking a Dispensing Technician to join our Langhorne practice (St. Marys, St. Clare Building). This role supports the in-office dispensing of oral oncology medications and assists with inventory control, patient support, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced oncology setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance details, and prescription information.
  • Process prescriptions and manage billing, including Medicare Part B verification.
  • Submit prior authorizations and apply for financial assistance through cancer foundations and co-pay programs.
  • Dispense oral medications under physician supervision, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Label prescriptions and ensure provider verification and patient signatures.
  • Maintain inventory records, track lot numbers, and ensure cost-effective drug ordering.
  • Document all patient interactions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Assist with IV admixture preparation (training provided).
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and internal safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a retail pharmacy or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or state pharmacy board certification recommended.
  • Prior IV admixture experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a clinical team environment.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for patient care tasks
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and medical preparations common to oncology clinics
  • In-person interaction with patients, physicians, and clinical staff is essential
