Incoming Inspector Leader

The Role

We are seeking an Incoming Inspection Leader who will ensure that purchased parts and products delivered to Alstom facilities meet our high standards. This individual will lead incoming inspection activities, manage the inspection team, and uphold product compliance before parts enter production.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage the team of Incoming Inspectors, ensuring inspections are performed in accordance with the Incoming Control Plan.



  • Collaborate with SPQD, SQ Serial Engineers and Incoming Inspectors to ensure control plans are defined and registered in the ERP system.



  • Ensure appropriate control keys and sampling rules are implemented and maintained in the ERP system.



  • Define inspection instructions and checklists and ensure they are available and up to date.



  • Establish and maintain processes for storing records at Incoming Inspection.



  • Ensure Incoming Inspectors comply with inspection procedures, tool calibration, record storage, NCR characterization, and ERP transactions.



  • Initiate external special-process inspections or outside lab testing when required.



  • Ensure when non-conformities (NCRs) are detected at incoming or on production lines that control plans are modified accordingly.



  • Inform SQ Serial and Supply Chain teams of defects detected at Incoming and any impacts on part availability.



  • Schedule daily meetings to align priorities and manage the daily workload of the Incoming Inspection team.



  • Maintain and publish KPIs; identify performance improvement opportunities.



  • Manage team competencies via a skills matrix; identify training needs and schedule development.




Performance Metrics


  • Complete inspections within the allocated target lead times; priority inspections are completed on time.



  • Accuracy in defect characterization in NCRs and execution of related ERP tasks (including inventory blocking).



  • Implementation and monitoring of continuous improvement actions, with a measurable downward trend in the quantity of non-functional NCRs detected after incoming inspection during production cycle.




What We're Looking For

Education




  • Bachelor's degree in a technical major is mandatory.



  • Familiarity with supplier qualification standards (e.g., ISO, ASME, IRIS) is required.



  • Proficiency with digital tools to manage KPIs and prepare presentations.



  • Preferred: Technical degree in Quality or Engineering. Railway industry experience is a plus. Ability to read 2D/3D drawings and understand 3D geometry; familiarity with measurement equipment.




Experience




  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a manufacturing industry.



  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a quality role.



  • Experience managing supplier relationships.



  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems.



  • Preferred: Quality inspection experience in manufacturing industry; experience with defect modes of typical products; audit experience.

  • Strong leadership and conflict-management skills.



  • Analytical mindset, detail-oriented.



  • Process-oriented and rigorous.



  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).



  • Technical aptitude (mechanical or electrical) and ability to work operationally, manage documentation and collaborate effectively in a team.
