Field Service Engineer - HRSG / Boiler Inspection

Summary

In essence, this position aligns well with what you'd expect from an HRSG Inspection Engineer, it involves detailed field inspections of heat recovery steam generators and boilers, performance testing, troubleshooting, and thorough reporting all supported by sound knowledge of mechanical systems and safety-conscious fieldwork practices.

Core Responsibilities



  • Perform inspections of Boiler and HRSG units at power generation sites, including exterior, gas-side, and waterside inspection scopes
  • Collect operational and performance data, and troubleshoot mechanical and performance issues onsite
  • Conduct visual inspections and UT (Ultrasonic Thickness) testing on both pressure and non-pressure components
  • Understand HRSG system operation and performance, including High Energy Piping (HEP) and piping hangers/supports
  • Deploy comprehensive knowledge of boiler performance testing and tuning, addressing emissions compliance and evaluating data like NO, CO, and O
  • Travel extensively (typically 60%+), sometimes to confined or elevated environments requiring significant physical activity



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu
  • Solid grounding in mechanical engineering principles (e.g., heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics)
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and technical documentation, and to produce clear, comprehensive reports
  • Proficiency with documentation and report writing tools
  • Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks, including crawling, bending, lifting (< 50 lbs.), and accessing constrained or elevated spaces
