The Staff Community Relations Professional, working under general supervision, is responsible for executing moderately complex tasks related to establishing and managing public and community affairs within the organization. This role plays a crucial part in establishing and maintaining connections between organization employees, its operations, and the communities where the organization has a business presence. The position requires frequent travel-several times a month-to South Texas, New Mexico, and Western Oklahoma for frequent on-site visits, coordination, and participation in community events. Candidates must be available and willing to travel regularly as part of their responsibilities. This position is focused on developing local community outreach activities that build the Devon reputation and brand and provide the basis for efforts to protect and improve the public policy environment in which Devon operates. Job Responsibilities
  • Travel approximately 50% of the time, including regular trips to South Texas, New Mexico, and Western Oklahoma. Candidates must be able to meet this travel requirement.
  • Support the community relations supervisor in implementing outreach programs in field operating areas.
  • Serve as a visible and accessible point of contact for employees and key stakeholders, continually building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Communicate accurate and timely information to key audiences and provide proactive support in the communities where we operate.
  • Coordinate community involvement opportunities for field employees, including participation in nonprofit, civic, and business organizations, as well as board and committee placements.
  • Execute charitable giving strategy in assigned operating areas.
  • Provide communications and support to business unit management and field employees.
  • Support emergency management team with building local emergency responder relationships.
  • Help organize community engagement activities including tours, visits, presentations, and media opportunities.
  • Participate in field incident management teams and support crisis response efforts.
  • Coordinate and execute the annual giving campaign.
  • Cultivate relationships with Devon ambassadors to advance community relations efforts.
  • Monitor local media for civic and community news, providing insight and recommendations to leadership.
  • Represent the company at community events and industry functions, delivering presentations that reinforce the organization's commitment to community engagement.
  • Assess community relations risks, recommend solutions, and prioritize assignments to support team goals.
  • Develop business acumen, recommend improvements, and communicate effectively to enhance community relations efforts.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Affairs, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or any other related discipline, and/or commensurate work experience is required.
Experience:
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in Community Relations specializing in areas such as Conflict Resolution, Community Outreach Event Management, or a related field. Industry experience is preferred.
