Senior Safety Representative

National Grid is hiring a Senior Safety Representative for our Central NY territory. This field position is based in our Syracuse, NY office.

The Senior Safety Representative works to improve the overall safety culture and ensure compliance by implementing and maintaining National Grid's safety programs.

* Investigate incidents, injuries, damage to property or other safety related concerns
* Cultivate safety and health skills and knowledge to frontline workers for electric and operational support business units
* Participate or lead Risk Assessment or Job Hazard Analysis teams
* Review contractor Health and Safety Plans and suggest improvements before project kickoff
* Act as subject matter expert for large project pre-job review, walk-through, and planning
* Communicate safety and health information at employee meetings and in safety committees
* Inspect new processes, materials, tools, substances, and equipment to identify hazards
* Develop positive, professional relationships with field personnel, all levels of leadership, outside agencies and the public

* Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Psychology, or related subject required
* A thorough knowledge of all related OSHA regulations, DOT regulations, applicable ANSI standards required
* 4+ years of progressive experience in a role where managing safety and health programs was 90% of job responsibility and accountability required
* CSP, ASP, GSP, IH Certification or progress toward certification required; certification is required within the first year of hire
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite required
* Valid driver's license required
