The Principal EPMO operating model & Maturity lead will be instrumental in advancing the maturity and capabilities of the Enterprise project Management Office (EPMO). This role will drive the design and implementation of the EPMO operating model, manage the integration of a Project Portfolio Management tool, and oversee critical aspects of resource management, demand and capacity planning, and time tracking. Working closely with senior leadership, the principal will be responsible for ensuring that the EPMO's operating model is aligned with the organizational priorities and that it delivers on the strategic goals of the business through high-performance project delivery

Key responsibilities:



  1. EPMO Operating Model development
  2. Lead the design and implementation of a robust EPMO operating model that ensures consistent scalable, and efficient project management practices
  3. Define and optimize governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and portfolio management frameworks
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed the EPMO operating model across the business, ensuring alignment and flexibility to drive business value
  5. PPM Tool evaluation and implementation
  6. Support the evaluation and implementation of a PPM tool to support end-to-end project management lifecycle, including time tracking, resource management and resource allocation
  7. Work with IT and other stakeholders to ensure the successful integration of the PPM tool, ensuring it supports demand management, capacity planning and the prioritization of projects
  8. Overseeing the design and implementation of the tool which enhances the ability to track, manage and optimize project performance
  9. Resource Management and Capacity Planning
  10. Design and implement processes for managing resources across the project portfolio, ensuring efficient allocation, utilization, and capacity planning
  11. Lead the development of resource management frameworks that provide visibility into resource needs, availability, and capacity across the portfolio
  12. Drive resource management practices that balance project demand with available capacity, ensuring that resource constraints are identified early and managed effectively
  13. Maturity assessment and continuous improvement
  14. Assess current maturity of EPMO, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement
  15. Develop and implement roadmap for EPMO maturity, guiding the organization towards a more sophisticated and effective model that increases impact on organizational success
  16. Governance and Change Management
  17. Establish and maintain EPMO governance models, ensuring that all projects follow defined processes, timelines and quality standards
  18. Lead change management efforts related to new EPMO tools, processes and governance models to ensure smooth implementation
  19. Develop and implement communication and training strategies to ensure stakeholders understand and support changes introduced by the EPMO
  20. Stakeholder Engagement
  21. Collaborate with senior executives and business leaders to ensure alignment with corporate objectives
  22. Regularly communicate performance, progress on maturity initiatives, and the value delivered to key stakeholders across the organization
  23. Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing insights on portfolio performance, resource utilization and financial health of projects
  24. Performance and Process Optimization
  25. Design and implement performance measurement frameworks, track key metrics and provide insights into health of the project portfolio
  26. Continuously refine processes to improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of project delivery, ensuring that projects are completed on time within budget
  27. Oversee the development and deployment of standardized project management tools, templates and methodologies across the EPMO
  28. Team Development and Mentorship
  29. Lead and mentor the EPMO tram, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability
  30. Provide professional development opportunities and coaching to build strong project management capabilities across the organization
  31. Ensure that team members have the necessary skills and tools to manage complex projects effectively


Skills:



  • Proven experience in evaluating and implementing third party PPM Tools
  • Strong expertise in resource management, capacity planning and demand forecasting
  • Experience with change management, particularly in the context of process and tool adoption
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights to improve project performance

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree Any relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8 years experience in program or project management.
  • 3 years experience impacting the healthcare experience for members.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. Or equivalent educ/experience.
  • Coursework/Training Completion of advanced-level educational program in business process improvement, project management, change and transition management. Or equivalent educ/experience.
  • 3 years Experience in organization transformation.
  • 7 years Experience working in or with an integrated health system; legal experience; financial accounting; change and transition management; professional consulting experience.
