Job Title: Senior Office Accountant - Payroll Tax

Reports to: Accounting Manager, Payroll Tax

Position Description:

Responsible
for ensuring payroll tax compliance and accuracy across multiple jurisdictions.
This role involves conducting detailed audits, managing tax registrations,
responding to tax notices, and supporting payroll system testing and
enhancements. The position also serves as a key resource for training and
mentoring within the payroll team, while taking ownership of critical workflows
and contributing to cross-functional collaboration.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct scheduled and Ad Hoc payroll audits on processes and data to ensure data integrity and compliance with Company policy, and legal requirements. This includes but not be limited to; address setup audits, project tax area set ups, and international tax and VISA setups.
  • Take active role as trainer and mentor; Prepare and deliver training to Payroll group as needed.
  • Facilitate the cross-functional team environment to ensure that identifying test data, execution of payroll testing and validation for system bug fixes and enhancements are completed and communicated accurately and timely.
  • Audit
    employee payroll tax configurations for compliance
  • Register new payroll tax jurisdictions.
  • Monitor incoming payroll tax notices and conduct related research.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and process monthly relocation gross ups.
  • Set up new tax authorities in internal software and payroll systems.
  • Research and reply to payroll tax questions.
  • Process and submit quarterly multiple worksite reports.
  • Track and maintain unemployment rate notices.
  • Research and process tax refund deposits from various jurisdictions.
  • Take ownership and leadership of processes and workflows
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, and 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, CPP certification preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • International experience preferred
  • Understand accounting implications of various contract terms (i.e. billable/non-billable, owner/subcontractor)
  • Basic understanding of risk management tools and processes (cash position reports, bank reconciliations)
  • High degree of organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Must have proficiency in financial systems applications, SAP experience required, advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Must be self-starter, adaptable and flexible to operate with minimal direction and little or no supervision while working in complex and changing environment
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion with ability to identify problems and initiate corrective action
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong dedication to teamwork and integrity within professional environment
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
