YOUR OPPORTUNITY


We have an exciting Retail Field Sales Representative - Northeast Region opportunity in our Merriam, KS office. The Retail Field Sales Representative - Northeast Region is responsible for developing, selling, and maintaining a customer base for Seaboard Foods portfolio of products that includes fresh commodity pork, Prairie Fresh(R) fresh pork, along with Prairie Fresh(R) branded value-added products and Daily's Premium Meats products. Sales Area includes a subset of states and/or customers within the Sales Region along with specialty assignments to prepare the candidate for the future role of Regional Sales Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Contribute to the Retail Channel's strategic sales plan execution to be the face of Seaboard Foods to the customer for assigned accounts. This includes Sales Area and customer sales plan development; managing the customer relationship in the assigned geography; participating in area trade shows and customer events; and maintaining a broker network that helps achieve area and regional goals.
  • Identifying potential growth areas for customers, then providing products, pricing, and strategies to successfully grow the business.
  • Stay informed of perishable protein markets in the assigned area and communicate this information to supervisors and other team members to assist with pricing, ROI, and sales decisions.
  • Monitor and assist with the collection of receivables and unauthorized deductions to maintain the balance and attain targeted levels.
  • Prepare weekly reports on all sales activities.
  • Manage area's sales expense budget and accruals

QUALIFICATIONS



Required:



  • Proven track record with minimum 4+ years' experience in the fresh meat and/or processed proteins sales industry with retail value-added meat sales and program selling experience.
  • Ability to analyze, develop and execute strategies to develop and expand into new markets resulting in sales volume growth aligned with company objectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to write routine reports, and to read and interpret price lists and availability reports.
  • Must be highly self-motivated, assertive and can speak effectively to customers while maintaining high ethics and integrity.
  • 60% overnight travel is expected within the area as well as travel to Kansas City headquarters and Midwest production facilities for customer tours, sales meetings, and training
  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • As needed or if the schedule is outside of regular business hours.

  • Primarily traveling to visit customers and at least one day working from home office.
