Basic Function
HF Sinclair Midstream located in Artesia, NM is seeking a Tank Integrity Specialist. This position supports continued development and implementation of the Integrity Management Program and conducts high-level assignments and duties for the Integrity Management Department independently. May direct or lead the work of others within the Tank Integrity group from time to time.
Job Duties

(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)



  • Collects, integrates and analyzes technical data and information associated with Risk and Integrity assessments and inspections
  • Ability to select and implement NDE and Direct Inspection Methods.
  • Knowledge of Industry codes and standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of Risk Based Inspection principles
  • Thorough knowledge of Atmospheric Storage Tank codes and standards
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical drawings & P&ID's
  • Knowledge of integrity failure mechanisms
  • Ability to identify potential risks associated with storage tanks, components and equipment.
  • Works directly with field personnel to ensure appropriate documentation of inspection results
  • Manages and tracks tank integrity project schedules and status
  • Develops technical solutions and process improvements in conjunction with management
  • Creates project plans, process maps, schedules, cost estimates, and participates in the development, implementation and training of standards, specifications and procedures
  • Interfaces with all parts of the organization involved with Integrity Management activities, including vendors and contractors
  • Provides training for inexperienced personnel as needed
  • Manages field projects associated with tank inspections and assessments which include data collection, analysis, coordination of resources and technology utilization
  • Supports and coordinates technology development for inspection and integrity data management (e.g. Autocad, GIS, Non-Destructive Examination, Corrosion Monitoring)
  • Maintains and gains knowledge and understanding of current practices and news related to technologies, compliance, and regulations


Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from timeto time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of eight year's Plant, Terminal, and above Ground Storage Tank experience directly related to inspections, repairs and mechanical integrity program requirements.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:


Experience in storage tank inspection, maintenance, repairs, and construction, as well as document and data management related to assets.

Education Level
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree Engineering or related technical discipline. Certifications in API 653, 510, and NACE CIP1 Certifications in lieu of a degree, is required.
Required Skills

Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Effective problem solver and troubleshooter; good analytical and abstract thinker and ability to use evaluation techniques. Strong technical and project management. Proficient in the use of IFA, IFC, and as-built drawings, and P&ID's. Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Access, Word, Project, Visio. Working knowledge of GIS. Advanced working knowledge of design, construction and operation of atmospheric storage tanks. Ability to process information quickly and develop rapport with HollyFrontier employees and contractors. Active member in NACE and API. The ability to effectively communicate to others, both written and verbal; intermediate reading and writing skills; and the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.


PREFERRED SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS:


Understanding of inspection techniques and results; understanding of corrosion prevention methods and Risk Management principles; proven ability to utilize data management systems with an interest in technology solutions. Certification in API 570, API 510, API 653 and data analysis are preferred.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
May lead the work of others as needed.
Work Conditions
Office based with up to 50% travel by land or air is required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant based, and out-of-doors environment including, but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment and working in confined spaces. Required to work in all temperatures including outdoors. Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.

Physical Requirements
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 25 lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 25 lbs, climbing up to 40ft, the ability to wear personal protective equipment in an emergency situation, including a respirator (beards not permitted), the ability to operate and drive company vehicles at standard company insurance rates is essential, valid State driver's license and proof of insurance, and perceiving color differences.
