Job Summary

Responsible for supporting mission-critical enterprise and departmental systems by installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing IT infrastructure, including Microsoft Windows servers in a virtualized environment, network systems, hardware, and SQL Server databases. Responsibilities include performing day-to-day maintenance and repairs, such as system upgrades, server installations, and the timely diagnosis and resolution of technical issues; managing backups and recovery processes; and ensuring server security and proper network configuration. This role also involves collaborating closely with other IT staff and departments to design and implement IT solutions that align with business needs, maintain system reliability, and support overall organizational objectives while providing technical assistance and guidance to end-users.


Essential Duties

Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating system on Windows production and test systems; ensure proper system updates, patches, and version controls are maintained, analyze and troubleshoot system problems, identify root cause, and develop solutions.

Maintain server security, storage, backups, and system documentation while continuously monitoring the performance of servers, applications, and hardware. Proactively identify potential issues and implement measures to mitigate risks before they affect business operations, and conduct regular audits of system logs and performance reports to ensure reliability, security, and optimal performance.

Implement and enforce robust security measures to safeguard data, applications, and systems from cyber threats while ensuring compliance with applicable data protection regulations. Conduct regular system audits and security scans to identify and address vulnerabilities.

Serve as a first or second-level backup to other IT Systems Administrators, stepping in to manage their duties during absences or peak workloads to ensure continuity of operations. Provide technical support and collaborate in a team-oriented environment, sharing knowledge, best practices, and workload to achieve departmental goals. This includes shared responsibility for Microsoft 365 administration, managing account provisioning, security configurations, compliance settings, and application performance. Working jointly with team members to monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain the platform.

Work closely with the IT team to plan, design, and implement system upgrades, patches, and enhancements, ensuring optimal performance and security. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation covering system configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines. Additionally, prepare and deliver regular reports on system performance, security status, and user support metrics to aid in decision-making.

Stay current with emerging technology trends and system administration best practices, actively participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and maintain relevant certifications.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

3 years practical experience providing IT systems administration support, including maintaining Windows servers, managing backups, implementing security measures, and troubleshooting enterprise IT environments. Experience with virtualized environments like VMware a must.


Preferred Qualifications

CompTIA Certifications (Security+, Network+).

Microsoft Certifications (Windows Server, Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator, Azure Administrator).
