Team Overview:

The IT team at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy keeps the organization running by managing everything from daily tech support to system security, Microsoft 365 administration, network operations, and vendor coordination. Our goal is to make technology seamless so staff can focus on their mission-driven work. Whether it's troubleshooting, onboarding, or improving workflows, we're proactive, responsive, and always looking for ways to make things work better.


Position Overview:

The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy is looking for a Senior IT Support & Systems Specialist to join our Technology team. As a senior member of the Technology team, you will take ownership of helpdesk functions (advanced and basic), coordinate vendor relationships, and contribute to the design and improvement of internal technology services. You'll be expected to work independently and help drive alignment between IT operations and organizational needs.


What You Will Do:

  • Provide end-user help for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices in a mixed Windows/macOS environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced hardware, software, network, and VPN issues in person, by phone, or remotely.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, security patches, and endpoint protection.
  • Administer and configure Microsoft 365 platforms: Exchange, Intune, Entra, Purview, Defender, SharePoint, and related tools.
  • Lead mobile device management (MDM) efforts and asset lifecycle practices using Microsoft Intune.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for helpdesk tickets and coordinate resolution with our MSP; ensure adherence to SLAs and performance expectations.
  • Maintain and optimize conference room audiovisual systems and hybrid meeting infrastructure.
  • Guide SharePoint usage and administration, including permissions, structure, and training for staff.
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation, including SOPs, knowledge base articles, and end-user guides.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement efforts in IT workflows, onboarding, security, and automation opportunities.
  • Participate in IT strategy discussions, vendor evaluations, and planning for future infrastructure or systems.
  • Provide informal coaching and technical guidance to Institute staff.
  • Promote IT best practices, security awareness, and the effective use of tools across the organization.


Qualifications
What You Will Need:

  • 5-7 years of experience in a technical support or systems administration role with increasing responsibility.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage escalations, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience managing Windows and macOS systems.
  • Administrative experience with Microsoft 365 platforms, including Exchange, SharePoint, Entra, Intune, and Defender.
  • Familiarity with AD, VPN configuration, MFA, and user lifecycle management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Intune or similar MDM systems.
  • Experience with SharePoint governance and support, or comparable collaboration platforms.
  • Exposure to scripting (e.g., PowerShell or Bash) and interest in automation.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and strengthen trust with external vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
