Role Summary We are seeking a versatile and forward-thinking professional for a hybrid role that blends Oracle Database Administration with modern Infrastructure and DevOps engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a stable, well-respected Wisconsin-based insurance company while contributing to modernization efforts and cloud readiness initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Database Administration (Approx. 40%) * Maintain and optimize on-prem Oracle 19c databases * Perform backups, patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance * Support SQL Server environments * Assist with planning upgrades to Oracle 23c and potential migration to OCI * Collaborate with application and data teams to align database architecture with business needs Infrastructure & DevOps (Approx. 60%) * Lead containerization efforts (Docker, Kubernetes) * Support infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, ActiveBatch) * Design and implement test automation environments * Research and prototype AI-driven infrastructure solutions * Drive CI/CD adoption and observability tooling * Collaborate with development teams on architecture and best practices Additional Responsibilities * Participate in on-call rotation for production support * Act as a liaison between infrastructure and application teams * Train operations staff and share technical knowledge Required Qualifications * 5+ years as an Oracle DBA (preferably Oracle 19c) * Strong SQL Server administration and performance tuning * Proficiency in Linux/Unix systems and shell scripting * Experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, Azure) * Familiarity with DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) * Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications * Experience with Oracle 23c or cloud migration planning * Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure * Knowledge of IaC and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) * Experience in the property & casualty insurance industry Technical Environment * Databases: Oracle (primary), SQL Server (quoting system) * Instances: 8-9, ~1TB each, cloned from a single source * Tools: Zerto, GoldenGate (potential), Terraform * CI/CD: Early adoption stage; Ops team is final approver * Cloud: Exploring cloud-compatible tools and cultural shift underway Ideal Candidate Profile * Technically strong with DBA-level depth and developer-level insight * Trusted collaborator across infrastructure and application teams * Forward-thinking and cloud-ready * Comfortable with hybrid responsibilities and evolving environments * Based in Wisconsin (remote work allowed within the state) Compensation & Benefits * Salary Range: $110,000 - $135,000/year * Bonus Plan: Eligible * Benefits: Health, dental, vision, life, LTD, matching 401(k), generous PTO *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $135000.00/yr. working on getting full list of benefits. *Workplace Type* This is a hybrid position in Madison,WI. *Application Deadline* This position is anticipated to close on Sep 5, 2025. h4>About TEKsystems: We're partners in transformation.
