DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will enhance the mobility of senior adults and wheelchair-dependent persons in our community by providing professional and accessible transportation in a safe, reliable, comfortable and courteous manner. This involves working independently and operating a county vehicle an average of 150 miles each day. Our team will rely on your excellent communication skills, both person to person and via two-way radio, to provide an essential transportation service as well as social contact for our consumers.

Being a people-person is key for success in this role as you will be providing important assistance and socialization throughout the day. If you have the willingness and patience to assist consumers, including senior adults and wheelchair-dependent consumers, along rough payment or unpaved paths and the adaptability to easily adjust in your daily schedule, then we want you on our team. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, 14 to 21+ hours per week.
  • Work hours vary between 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with limited hours on Saturday.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

Condition of Employment:

  • No suspension of driver's license within the last three years.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
