Summary This position is a prn role, with dayshift hours as needed between 0730 and 1730. This role assists with transporting patients to and from the Endoscopy department in wheelchairs, stretchers, and hospital beds, and also is support role for nurses in the Endoscopy pre/post area, assisting in providing care for patients in our 9 pre/post bays while they are in the department. This role also assists with stocking throughout the department, and transporting specimens to the lab post procedure. There is no call responsibility with this position.
Job Description: Endoscopy Nursing Assistant Surgical Services I Lexington, KY PRN I First Shift Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department. Description:
- Assists patients in personal hygiene such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair and nail care.
- Assists patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity and recording I & O. Does
- not leave patient unattended when out of bed for bathroom assistance.
- Assists patients in dressing and undressing while providing dignity and privacy.
- Assists patients by lifting them manually or by mechanical lifts as needed as directed by the nurse.
- Assists patients with eating and drinking and nutritional needs.
- Assist in transferring and discharging patients as required.
- Assists patients in positioning for meals including cleaning hands of patient
- Assists with serving meals and feeding patients as necessary
- Offers supplemental feeding/snacks
- Provides patient with fresh ice and drinking water per policy
- Documents input on chart at least every two hours
- Turns patients every two hours and/or as indicated as directed by the Nurse
- Maintains proper body alignment while performing patient transfer and activities
- Escorts patients during admission, transfer, and discharge as requested
- Assists with ambulation, up in chair, or other activities
- Verifies patient's limitations, restrictions, and plan for mobility with Nurse prior to initiation of patient care.
- On Call required-weeknights, weekends, and holiday picked by rotation.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma and/or Equivalent.
- Current KY Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completions of first year of Nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.
- BCLS by the end of orientation period. (3 months)
