This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of technicians and Engineers, you will develop and implement commercial quality processes for the design, test and manufacture for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of quality initiatives that will support development and low-rate engine production.

This role will manage and oversee the daily operations of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) personnel, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards and procedures and will include coordinating activities, providing technical guidance, and maintaining equipment.

You will be responsible to drive quality products throughout the organization by maintaining an environment that emphasizes accountability, discipline, and attention to detail at all levels; NDT Supervisors play a crucial part in developing and implementing NDT procedures and standards. You must have a passion for solving complex problems and providing operable solutions; act with minimal direction and on your own initiative; and be adaptable as you will work on a variety of applications and systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the daily operations of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) personnel
  • Coach and mentor manufacturing employees on Quality requirements
  • Develop and approve first article inspections
  • Document non-conformances and determine impact to production
  • Lead the selection and execution of continuous improvement activities (root cause analyses)
  • Develop site-to-site work plans and work transfers
  • Lead and/or support Corrective Action Boards, and lead and/or support Quality Reviews, such as pre-ship, pedigree, and hardware acceptance reviews
  • Responsibilities will also include supporting Quality Assurance business objectives, focused on preparing budgets, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions, when required
  • Ensuring all NDT equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working order.
  • You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the manufacturing of Blue Origin Engines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in an Engineering field or American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years' industry experience in leading/developing teams to support quality management systems
  • Quality assurance experience in production environment.
  • Strong experience in leadership, planning, and project management
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs
  • Ability to support manufacturing schedules for multiple shift operations throughout the week

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in a Quality Management capacity
  • Aerospace, space launch, military or commercial aviation experience
  • Relevant experience in a start-up environment, transitioning a product from development, through production to operations
  • Quality Management System audit experience
  • Relevant experience in AS9145, Advance Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process
  • Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities (SPC)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt, or comparable Certification

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $115,509.00-$161,712.60

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
