Job Description Summary:

Analyzes, identifies, and resolves discrepancies in health information records to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:
  • Validates and ensures the accuracy of patient demographic information in the health information management system.
  • Reviews and analyzes medical records to identify incomplete or missing documentation. Performs needed chart corrections and requested changes.
  • Collaborates with healthcare providers, Legal Services, and other internal departments to maintain accurate and complete documentation.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy and completeness of medical records.
  • Assists with the scanning and organizing of paper-based medical records.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all medical records and patient information.

Education Requirement:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Management, preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

Certifications:

RHIT or RHIA certification, preferred.


Skills:
  • Proficient with computers and ability to learn new software programs.
  • Analytical and organizational skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and privacy protection.

Experience:
  • Two years of experience in hospital setting or medical office, required.
  • Medical record experience, preferred.
