DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Barber Instructor, you will play a crucial role in the management and training of licensed barbers at SCI Mercer. Your responsibilities will include assigning work to inmate barbers, providing management training related to barbering activities, and ensuring that the operating standards required for a barbershop certification are maintained. You will also provide both theoretical and practical instruction while maintaining custody and control over inmates and exercising therapeutic care. Your position will be essential in maintaining a safe and professional environment for both inmates and staff at the institution.

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday - Friday.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of an active Barber Teacher License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Barber Examiners.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
