Job Title:Delivery Lead: Level II, Development Delivery and Planning, Core and Supplemental Solutions

Location:Remote

Day in the Life:
As a Delivery Lead within the Core Solutions Business of HMH, you will manage the delivery of solutions to HMH customers. You will collaborate and coordinate with development teams, leveraging Lean Agile and project management skills to develop and release digital-first solutions that solve specific market problems in K-12 education and the Ed Tech sphere, with a focus on helping teachers and enhancing student outcomes.

In this position, you will serve either as a Delivery Lead or as a Scrum Master with delivery lead responsibilities on a cross-functional Scrum team responsible for delivering content solutions. You will use agile and project management methodologies to discover, test, develop, and deliver content and metadata across various media formats online and in print.

Among your responsibilities, you will organize and execute development work via Jira, manage content and engineering vendors and create SOWs, deploy content and metadata to platform environments, oversee content reviews and quality assurance, and perform bug triage and resolution.

Delivery Lead Expectations:

  • Understand Project Scope:Define project scope, manage deliverables, resources, and communication. Help the development team to focus on the customer and work flexibly within and across teams.
  • Focus on Results:Understand the product backlog and priorities. Track and manage schedules, interdependencies, deliverables, bugs, and customer issues using tools such as MS Office, Jira, SmartSheet, Miro, and Content Management Systems. Ensure status, risks, and issues are managed and communicated.
  • Develop Knowledge of Tools:Develop knowledge and understanding of the tools HMH uses to create and manage the content, including Plankton, OneCMS, WebCMS.
  • Analyze and Troubleshoot:Display the capability to analyze and troubleshoot issues in our products by understanding how they are built, the file formats and delivery modes used, how content is structured and how it is interdependent.
  • Understand Workflow:Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of content development workflow and task ownership, with attention to development efficiencies, critical path, and dependencies.
  • Command Project Status:Facilitate project updates and communication from the delivery and Scrum team to stakeholders. Track decisions and actions, ensuring they are understood at appropriate organizational levels.
  • Support Project Documentation:Collaborate with internal and external teams to meet requirements for information and data management, vendor management, quality management, and release management. Complete required reports accurately and on time and present updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate Effectively:Provide clear, direct, accurate, and professional communication. Use Agile and Scrum techniques to uncover potential risks and work with teams to mitigate. Present issues and risks with proposed solutions in a timely manner. Escalate issues as needed for conflict resolution and effective change management to relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the Team:Act as a representative for the department. Advocate for process improvement and positive change initiatives. Work with peers to enhance engagement and the understanding of business goals. Collaborate with your manager to achieve personal and professional growth.

Definition of Success:

  • Iterative deliveries of solutions that meet market problem needs on time and budget as measured by product sales, customer testimonials, and usage data, and confirmation from direct manager that expectations have been met.
  • Successful delivery of products or projects as outlined in relevant OKRs, providing evidence of specific individual contribution.
  • Meeting goals as measured by team surveys/retrospectives and other means of team feedback.
  • Demonstration of evidence to support individual development goals.

Minimum Years of Experience:
3 years working

Degree Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, education, or relevant technical field preferred

Skills Required:

  • Experience working to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Organization skills and experience working with multi-disciplined and multi-location teams, running multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with Lean/Agile/Scrum preferred; Scrum Master certification desirable
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, SmartSheet, JIRA, and similar tools used for planning and communication with digital product development
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with publishing and educational technology industry concepts, practices, and procedures, and a strong desire to learn more
  • Ability to understand, support, motivate, and coach team members in a remote working environment
  • Strong attention to both detail and deadlines, and a focus on task completion
  • Aptitude for problem-solving
  • Tech savvy, familiar with technology and comfortable using tools

Skills Preferred:

  • Experience as delivery lead or project manager developing technology products within Educational Tech or Publishing

Benefits and Salary Range:
Salary Range: $70,000 to $80,000
Our salary ranges are based on national averages. We have wide ranges so we can be flexible and determine compensation based on a number of factors including the candidate's skills, experience, education, and location.
