Snapshot of the Role

As a Maintenance Technician with Husco, you will be responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment. This includes minimizing downtime, reducing breakdowns, and enhancing the overall reliability and efficiency of our production processes.

Pay: $17 an hour
Shift: 3rd Shift
Location: Maquoketa, Iowa

What You'll be Doing:

  • Equipment Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of manufacturing equipment and machinery to identify potential issues. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and adjustment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance. Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Scheduled Preventative Maintenance: Develop and adhere to a preventative maintenance schedule for all critical machinery. Perform scheduled maintenance tasks according to the maintenance plan, including but not limited to changing filters, belts, bearings, and other consumables.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identifying the root causes of breakdowns. Execute necessary repairs promptly and efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including maintenance logs, work orders, and parts usage. Generate reports on equipment performance, maintenance, and downtime as required.
  • Spare Parts Management: Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and order replacements as needed. Monitor stock levels and ensure that critical spare parts are readily available.

What You'll Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical diploma or certification in related field is a plus)
  • Forklift truck operation certification (other material handling equipment as needed)
  • Strong knowledge of machinery and equipment used in the manufacturing process.
  • Proficiency in reading technical manuals and schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements:

Shop environment may have exposure to oil, fumes, moderate noise levels and metal particles. Safety shoes and safety glasses are required. Face masks, shields and earplugs when required.

  • Physical Endurance: Sufficient physical stamina to maintain productivity and focus during fast-paced assembly work, often under time constraints, without compromising accuracy or safety.
  • Lifting and Carrying: The ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, including components, tools, and finished products. Adherence to proper lifting techniques and safety procedures to avoid risk of injury.
  • Standing and Walking: The capacity to stand and walk for a minimum of eight (8) hours throughout the workday, as painting tasks often involve moving on the paint line, in booths, in the warehouse and to and from assembly lines.
  • Physical Flexibility: Flexibility to assume various positions, such as bending, kneeling, or crouching, when necessary for accessing and assembling components in tight spaces or awkward angles.
  • Dexterity, Hand-eye Coordination and Foot Controls: Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to grasp small parts, use handheld scanners/tools, paint guns, and operate powered industrial equipment with foot controls repetitively.
  • Repetitive Motions: The capability to perform repetitive motions, such as grasping, twisting, and operating hand scanners, paint guns or machinery, as these actions are integral to the painting process.
  • Vision: Good vision, including the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions. Visual sharpness, depth perception, and distinguishing color are all crucial for identifying defects, aligning components, and ensuring quality control.
