A rapidly growing division of Nidec Motor Corporation seeks candidates for a Product Service Engineer position, in St. Louis, MO.

Job Description

Locations:

Remote to Hybrid in St. Louis, Missouri - Ft. Smith, Arkansas - Mena, Arkansas and open to other locations within the Nidec family.

Summary:

The role of the Product Service Engineer is to plan and technically coordinate field service projects involving product repair, start-up and customer technical assistance for both domestic and global situations. This role will also develop, analyze and prepare reports on failure and complaint statistics and initiate and coordinate corrective action plans.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop solutions to product service problems and coordinate implementations with customers and repair centers.
  • Travel, as required, both domestic and international to job sites and repair centers to provide technical support for product repairs and application problems. Comply with customer on-site training requirements and adhere to industry safety guidelines and equipment.
  • Secure purchase orders from customers on all non-warranty related jobs and coordinate customer billing, cost accounting and documentation.
  • Prepare failure analysis reports as required by Nidec Motor Corporation or its customer.
  • Investigate reported defects in design, manufacture or materials. Interface with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing and Quality to initiate corrective action.
  • Develop and document repair procedures consistent with quality service to customers.
  • Conduct training programs as to product familiarization, mechanical and electrical repairs, troubleshooting, etc. This includes both internal training for, such as field sales and international personnel when requested by management, and outside training paid for by customers.
  • Perform special assignments and prepare reports as required by Department Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • BS/BA in in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience with the Electromechanical Rotating Equipment repair industry and familiar with the installation and commissioning of induction motors used in various industry environments.
  • Background in motor Vibration Analysis, Variable Frequency Drives and Motor Control Installations involving troubleshooting and or motor installation/start-up in the field.
  • Familiarity with Industry Standards NEC, IEC, API, UL, CSA and NEMA that is applicable to the motor industry.
  • Proficiency with computer programs/software (Microsoft Office, Oracle, JD Edwards and other database applications).
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer is required.
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs. at times.
  • Must be able to travel (up to 20% of the time).
