Pricing Specialist Responsibilities

Pricing Specialists analyze and develop pricing strategies for retirement plans, ensuring competitiveness and profitability while adhering to regulations and client needs. Working closely with sales leadership and retirement plan advisors, they communicate with service providers to secure accurate and timely live quotes.

  • Analyze and Benchmark Retirement Plans - Review and interpret requests for service provider quotes, conduct retirement plan benchmarking of fees and services, and perform additional prospect research to support competitive and compliant pricing recommendations.
  • Prepare Accurate Pricing Packages - Incorporate standard pricing content, language, and formatting into sales deliverables, ensuring consistency and alignment with firm standards.
  • Advise on Best Practices - Guide national offices on established processes for requesting and securing quotes from service providers, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Maintain Service Provider Relationships - Manage and update key service provider contact lists, aligned with advisor relationships, regional sales structures, and varying request processes.
  • Ensure Timely Responses - Meet internal and external deadlines by efficiently handling all pricing requests, achieving KPIs such as average response time, request completion volume, win rate, and won revenue.
  • Collaborate Across Teams - Work closely with sales leadership, retirement plan advisors, and proposal specialists to ensure accurate, timely, and strategically aligned pricing deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with large data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eagerness to learn retirement plan industry concepts and pricing practices.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proposal writing experience including experience in the insurance or related industry
  • 3 to 5 years of related insurance industry experience including proposal writing
  • Experience with CRMs, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, and the ability to quickly learn new platforms
  • Organized, detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate with a strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, meet deadlines and take instruction from multiple sources
  • Proactive decision-maker with the ability to see the big picture
