Summary

The Ambulatory Pharmacy Compliance Coordinator provides a supportive role in pharmacy compliance, specifically core elements of ambulatory and specialty pharmacy including but not limited to standards/governance, training, monitoring, and investigations. This position also supports the Ambulatory Pharmacy Compliance Manager in the evaluation of compliance related to pharmacy practice in the community pharmacy setting, specialty clinics, and medication home delivery. Additionally, this position will work in coordination with the Ambulatory Pharmacy Compliance Manager, legal, pharmacy operations, and clinical teams to assist in the review of policies and procedures and sustain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for an Ambulatory Pharmacy Compliance Coordinator (Certified Pharmacy Technician) to join our team at our Central Pharmacy in LaGrange, KY. This will be a hybrid position that will have time worked onsite and at home.

  • Engages in personal development to stay updated with pharmacy trends related to role and practice setting.
  • Supports the development of compliance strategy and provides ongoing monitoring to minimize risk for the health system.
  • Assists in data collection and process review to gather information used to collaborate with legal counsel and pharmacy leadership to draft and update system community and specialty pharmacy policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Partners with Ambulatory Pharmacy Compliance Manager to monitor and analyze reporting to validate compliance to third party payer contracts, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Assists in the monitoring of upcoming changes to regulations and accreditation standards that impact pharmacy practice.
  • Helps to create communication plans, implement process changes, and develop training to support compliance-related operational changes.
  • Assists in the development and management of pharmacy quality metrics for performance improvement of teams.
  • Assists with onsite pharmacy audits, patient management audits, and investigations to ensure compliance with regulations, accreditation standards, and contractual requirements for third party payers.
  • Assists with controlled substance surveillance and inventory corrections audits.
  • Works in partnership with Ambulatory and Specialty Pharmacy leadership to prepare for and successfully navigate accreditation surveys.

Minimum Education and Training

  • Registration with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy upon hire.
  • Nationally certified as a pharmacy technician.
  • Completion of 340B University or Apexus certification within 6 months of hire.

Minimum Experience

  • At least 2 years related experience in retail and/or specialty pharmacy.
  • Experience in pharmacy compliance preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy statutes and regulations preferred.
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy accreditation standards preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and other pharmacy related applications preferred.
