The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports the manufacturing engineering team by producing and maintaining manufacturing documentation, programs, and stencils, ensuring that processes are in place and ready within required timeframes. This role works closely with engineers, production staff, and quality teams to ensure smooth transitions from engineering to manufacturing. The technician follows established work methods, applies technical expertise, and practices safe work habits to maximize efficiency, quality, and safety on the production floor. In addition, the position contributes to process improvements, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance overall manufacturing performance. At Pro-Active Engineering, the Manufacturing Engineering Technician plays a key role in bridging design and production, ensuring customer products are built to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities


  • Create, update, and maintain manufacturing documentation, assembly instructions, and production travelers.
  • Generate, verify, and manage SMT stencils, programs, and tooling to support production schedules.
  • Collaborate with engineers to implement process changes, new product introductions (NPI), and design-for-manufacturability improvements.
  • Support production teams by troubleshooting process issues and providing technical assistance.
  • Ensure that all processes, equipment, and documentation are prepared and released on time to meet customer and internal deadlines.
  • Maintain organized documentation control in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Assist with process validations, first article builds, and production trials.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively across engineering, production, and quality teams to support smooth operations.

Work Environment & Schedule

While performing the duties of this role, the employee may occasionally work near moving mechanical equipment and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The work environment typically has a low to moderate noise level.


  • This position is based on-site at our Sun Prairie, WI facility.
  • Hourly, full-time role with competitive pay.
  • Standard schedule is Monday through Friday.
  • Overtime may be required based on production needs.
  • Occasional weekend work as needed to support deadlines.


Required Education and Experience


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Preferred Education and Experience


  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent; or currently pursuing.
  • 1-2 years of Electronic Manufacturing experience.

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident, (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. * 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. * 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, use fine hand motor skills/dexterity, use repetitive motions, and lift and/or move up to 15 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
