Job Description

Pittsburgh Glass Works, LLC, a subsidiary of Vitro Automotive, has an opening for a Quality Manager in the Tipton, PA fabrication plant. Vitro is one of the leading suppliers of automotive glass in the United States. Our Tipton plant, manufactures side and back windows for many popular auto manufacturers, including Ford, GM, Stelantis, Mercedades, etc. The plant is located in Central Pennsylvania about 40 minutes from State College and 2 hours from Pittsburgh.



The Quality Manager plans, organizes and directs the activities of the plant Quality Control department and coordinates the total plant quality assurance effort to ensure conformance to customer, division and plant quality standards and government regulations. The incumbent provides objective evaluations of process performance and product quality and develops subordinates for continual contributions towards plant quality goals. S/he serves as the Plant Management Representative for ISO/TS 16949 compliance audits and other audits and supports plant quality, safety and environmental goals in this role.



Responsibilities:



  1. Manage all Quality Assurance activities that assure that outgoing product and packaging quality, purchased material quality, product safety, performance and field service follow-up comply with established specifications and standards to meet the needs and expectations of customers.
  2. Provide C. Engineering services to Production Engineering by performing routine process control checks, conducting process capability studies, coordinating new product specification (blueprint) reviews and, in general, provide needed information to assist in effecting process improvement and consistency between process capabilities and product specifications.
  3. Design, develop and implement total plant quality systems to ensure consistency with customer requirements and division quality poli
  4. Ensure that a quality system is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with quality standards and communicate the status of the quality system to upper management to ensure changes needed for success on a timely
  5. Address quality requirements (e.g. selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives, training, corrective action, product design and development) in internal functions/meetings to best represent the needs of the customer and act as an advocate on behalf of the customer.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or another technical discipline, plus at least three years of experience in Quality Management or the equivalent experience of at least five years successfully managing a Quality department is required
  • Must have strong human relations skills, strong oral and written communications skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively supervise subordinates and foster teamwork
  • Customer-focused, results-driven and be able to analyze quality data and make recommendations for improvement of the Quality system
  • Proficient at an intermediate to advanced level in personal computers and Microsoft Office applications of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
