Job Description

Program and Policy Specialist - JCPH

Make a difference in the health and wellbeing of Jackson County! As a Program and Policy Specialist, you'll help design, implement, and evaluate health promotion programs, policies, and community initiatives that prevent disease and support healthier lives.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and support health education, policy, and systems-change initiatives

  • Partner with schools, businesses, and community organizations to address health priorities

  • Research and apply evidence-based strategies for disease prevention and behavior change

  • Create educational materials and use media to share health information

  • Support grant writing, reporting, and community health assessments

  • Build strong partnerships to improve population health and advance equity

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health promotion/education, or related field

  • 1-2 years related experience

  • Knowledge of public health core functions, program planning, and health education

  • Strong research, communication, and presentation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in public health or related field

  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)

  • Experience with epidemiology, data analysis, and community organizing
