The Workplace Strategy and Space Analyst plays a key role within our Planning, Strategy, & Analytics team and is a highly collaborative part of our Facilities team. Encompassing everything from building maintenance and security to environmental health and safety, the Facilities team oversees more than 750k SF of Institute space. This role will help support strategy, process, and technology initiatives to increase efficiency and transparency within Facilities as well as across Administration with the long-term goal of building the processes and technology architecture required to answer questions.

Job Description:

  • Ensure that our group's space analytics and planning support the Broad's institutional mission, vision, and strategic planning goals.
  • Integrate space usage and capacity data with institutional key performance indicators to ensure the Institute is distributing space according to need and using it efficiently.
  • Support a range of activities, research and tasks associated with developing products, strategy and processes supporting the Facilities teams.
  • As part of an overall Facilities strategy, develop efficient processes, recommend process and technological enhancements to improve service and efficiencies in order to achieve optimum standards.
  • Compile, cleanse, and aggregate information to generate actionable information and provide a foundation to integrate best practices, policies, and procedures for campus planning, facility highest and best use, and implementation strategies.
  • Conduct space planning research and gap analysis for life science facility space; identify space utilization and usage patterns, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Assist in upkeep of existing reports to ensure data accuracy, functionality, and implement improvements.
  • Create documentation and training content for dashboard and reports.
  • Develop executive level presentations to visualize key data findings, communicate "the story", and deliver strategic recommendations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Coursework in statistics, business analytics, or management preferred, plus at least two to three years of relevant professional experience required.
  • Passionate about solving problems with a strong ability to glean actionable insight and meaning from chaotic data.
  • Incredibly organized and committed to follow through: you have checklists for your checklists, you often think 10 steps ahead, and when it's done, you know how to measure the success of your work.
  • Strong storyteller: yousharestories through a variety of mediums, whether in-person events, virtual settings, or in writing.
  • Intense dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of customers. Talks and acts with the customer in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers. Gains their trust and respect. Knows who their customers are.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet software - either Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Experience using data visualization tools (ex: Tableau)
  • Ability to quickly provide progress reports and numbers to contribute to data-driven decision making.
  • Ability to identify project challenges, and judgment on when to escalate and when to solve them independently.
  • Ability to learn quickly and implement findings to increase process efficiency and effectiveness.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of best practices for assessment and analysis of academic, research, and administrative spaces, considering post-pandemic trends and forces.
  • Experience with statistical sampling and survey methodology.
  • Understand basic principles of office and lab space assignments and/or management.
  • Working knowledge of database architecture, terminology, processes and an understanding of database-based application system design and planning activities.
  • Experience with institutional enterprise-level information management systems e.g. ERP, FMSystems, CAFM, BANNER, PeopleSoft, and ArchiBUS, etc.
  • Experience with Revit or AutoCAD
