Machinist

Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate various machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements
- Select and use appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials to achieve desired results
- Perform machining operations, such as turning, milling, drilling, and grinding, to produce parts and components
- Inspect and test finished parts to ensure they meet quality and precision standards
- Troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and regulations
- Collaborate with other machinists, engineers, and technicians to achieve production goals and resolve technical issues
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a machinist, or completion of a machinist apprenticeship program
- Strong understanding of machining principles, including geometry, trigonometry, and metallurgy
- Proficiency in operating various machine tools, including CNC machines
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or certificate in machining or a related field preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and programming languages, such as G-code and M-code
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and inspection techniques
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Certification as a journeyman machinist or equivalent
Work Environment:
- The General Machinist will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with exposure to noise, dust, and other hazards associated with machining operations
- The role requires standing, walking, and lifting, as well as frequent use of hand tools and machinery
- The General Machinist must be able to work in a team environment, with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity
