Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Trident is a privately held, 100 percent USA-owned company with primary seafood processing operations and fleet support in twelve Alaska communities. Trident's global operations produce finished wild Alaska seafood products in 6 countries and its sales teams serve customers in over 50 countries. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also includes cultured and wild species from a network of trusted sources worldwide.

Summary:Procurement is defined as sourcing, negotiating and the buying of goods, materials and services to meet Trident's operational requirements, departmental goals, and company goals. As part of the sourcing team, Buyers research, select suppliers and materials, and purchase goods and services. This role is vital to building relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders, identifying cost saving opportunities, negotiating lowest cost while ensuring quality, and tracking and managing orders and payments.

  • Verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests.
  • Collaborates with suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and other specifications.
  • Enters purchase orders and sends copies to suppliers. Compiles records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, and deliveries.
  • Computes total cost of items purchased and analyzes spend reporting based on various criteria.
  • Works closely with Shipping & Receiving and Accounts Payable teams to ensure optimal efficiency and best practice of Procure-to-Pay process.
  • Compares prices, availability, delivery dates, and other criteria and places orders with suppliers.
  • Follows up on supplier quality and service issues.
  • Selects products and negotiates with suppliers to provide company with greatest benefit while meeting operational requirements.
  • Deliver cost savings on spend under management.
  • Develop strong supplier relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • Engage with stakeholders regularly to assess requirements, report progress, provide support, obtain project buy-in, and ensure no lapses in service and quality.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally across teams to optimize efficiencies/spending and meet business requirements/company goals.
  • Identify and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify savings opportunities and keep abreast on market knowledge for project/category management.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as assigned.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a hourly pay rate range of $28 to $36 per hour.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs):

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor`s degree (preferably in supply chain management) and two years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in mathematics.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Results-driven with the ability to deliver goals and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Curiosity and drive to understand market trends, add value to the company, apply best practices, and pursue continuous improvement.

Preferred education and experience:

  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Adaptable to all professional settings.
  • SAP S4/HANA proficiency.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or related certification.

Work Environment

This is an on-site position based at the Trident Support Center office in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.

In-office time takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and moderate noise. While remote, employees must provide appropriate home office space.

Physical/Mental demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time at a desk. Frequently required to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee will occasionally stand, walk, and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision for frequent use of a computer.
