Provide customer service to Bookstore patrons and daily operation of College Bookstore the Textbook Rental System and the areas within Auxiliary Services.


Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provide customer service and problem resolution to Bookstore and Textbook Rental System patrons e-mail and telephone clients.
  2. Perform general operations of the bookstore using appropriate software and established policies & procedures (open & close store/process sales exchanges refunds & special requests/maintain knowledge of all merchandise/perform inventory).
  3. Prepare College IDs for staff and students using appropriate software and established policies & procedures.
  4. Organize course materials shelves and display of merchandise.
  5. Perform general operations of the Textbook Rental System using appropriate software and established policies & procedures (distributes & collects textbooks (off campus dual credit & extension centers)/maintains associated paperwork/process late returns).
  6. Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed such as sporting events.
  7. Distribute books to students via UPS shipping process.
  8. Complete special assignments and related duties as assigned.
  9. Maintain Bookstore cash control and prepare bank deposits.
  10. Assist in other areas of the bookstore as needed.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • High school or equivalent required.

Experience Requirements:
  • Exposure to retail sales and customer service a plus.

Knowledge:
  • Business etiquette and general office procedures.

Skills:
  • Basic understanding and skill in working with Microsoft office software package. Word and Excel testing required.

Personal Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and organizational skills. Detail-oriented, self-starter who enjoys relating to a diverse population of students, staff and public in a fast-paced work environment with multiple interruptions. Works consistently to further the college's vision and values. Work collaboratively with immediate peers and other departmental areas to support student learning and development. Shows respect and compassion for others. Values the open exchange of ideas and exhibits innovation in daily work and special projects.
