Automotive Lab Technician
Salary range: $41,491 min. $53,939 max.
Typical Hours of Work: 7:30-4:30 M-F. There may be times that require working later for special events.

You enjoy assisting with and maintaining the Automotive labs and supporting the department chair, faculty and staff with laboratory equipment, machines, vehicles and materials with the primary goal of optimizing lab organization, maintenance, and support components contained within the Automotive, Transportation and CDL department labs.
- You have general knowledge of maintenance, safe practices, housekeeping, and material acquisition in an automotive service or technical educational environment.
- You enjoy ordering, stocking, and inventorying equipment and supplies.
- You are skilled at preparing labs, maintaining satellite laboratories and facilitating a safe lab environment.
Typical Responsibilities Include:
- Perform general routine maintenance on lab vehicles, machines, and equipment
- Make recommendations for modifying or updating laboratory materials as needed. (This includes researching and obtaining quotes.)
- Providing technical support when necessary.
- Sorts, files, labels, and verifies tooling, fixtures, and tooling bins.
- Receives new components and materials, sorts and places them appropriately in the labs.
- Cleans and maintains components stored in the labs and keeps the rooms organized.
- Conducts inventory of components and fixtures in the labs and prepares and maintains inventory reports and records for the supervisor and instructors.
- Manages pickup and delivery of materials, tools, vehicles, and fixtures for labs.
- Visually inspect components for obvious damage and report to the supervisor
To Be Considered, You'll Need:
- H.S. diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
- Minimum of two years' full-time equivalent work experience or education in an automotive, service, technical, or lab environment where various types of automobiles, tools, and equipment are maintained.
- Must be able to obtain a forklift operator's license within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications (although not required):
- Welding Experience
- Fork Lift operator's license
- Operate a pickup truck and trailer, safely securing vehicles and loads when hauling.
