What we do:

The Trade Desk is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Revenue Accountant to join its Finance Team. This role primarily focuses on preparing and managing costs accruals related to Cost of Gross Revenue "COGR", including but not limited to analyzing supplier/vendor contracts, and operationalizing accounting processes to support business initiatives in compliance with US GAAP. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with teams across the business, ensure accurate financial reporting, and contribute to process improvements, operational excellence, and scalable accounting solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proactive ownership mindset, sound knowledge of US GAAP, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do:

  • Own preparation of the monthly COGR accounts, including validation of supplier/vendor costs, passthrough credit memos, and ensuring proper allocations in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Drive end-to-end close processes, including preparing cost-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintaining key workbooks used for internal reporting and analyses.
  • Review and assess supplier contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment and ensure alignment with both financial reporting requirements and operational execution.
  • Take ownership of maintaining and enhancing SOX controls over COGR processes. Ensure all documentation is consistently audit-ready and confidently provide clear, timely, and accurate explanations during audits.
  • Operationalize key business initiatives by translating cross-functional strategies into scalable, auditable accounting processes.
  • Lead and contribute to business process improvements and ad hoc projects, identifying automation opportunities, refining workflows, and helping scale accounting operations as the business evolves.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for COGR by providing clear, actionable accounting guidance to operational teams on supplier contract cost structures, margin analysis, related risks, and accounting impacts.
  • Collaborate regularly with Finance Business Operations, Legal, and other teams through ongoing stakeholder meetings to ensure accurate financial data treatment, resolve discrepancies, and align operational and accounting changes.
  • Offer insights and recommendations based on analysis to help management make informed financial decisions. Conduct fluctuation analyses on revenue and cost trends, providing clear, well-supported explanations of variances for finance leadership and auditors.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement, taking the initiative to solve problems and raise the bar across the team.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in general ledger and financial reporting, with an emphasis on cost of revenue accounting, preferably in a public company.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, cost accruals, and financial reporting principles.
  • Proven ability to manage complex supplier contracts and resolve operational challenges through accounting principles.
  • Consistently and independently exercise strong technical and analytical judgement, including in assessing transactions; correctly and thoroughly articulate judgements based on accounting principles, both in writing (documentation) and verbally to teammates, stakeholders and management.
  • Experience with SOX controls and audit processes, including maintaining documentation and responding effectively to audit inquiries.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, with a strong understanding of key formulas such as XLOOKUPs, SUMIFS, IF, VLOOKUP, CONCATENATE, and the ability to combine various formulas to derive meaningful insights and results.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle Cloud, Coupa, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • ASC 606 knowledge is a PLUS
